actor. playwright. poet. educator.

As Denver’s Second Youth Poet Laureate, Ayla Sullivan has promoted literacy in Denver and nationally through spoken word performance and poetry workshops since their inauguration in 2016. They have performed in international competitions through Brave New Voices because of their membership on Denver’s Youth Slam Team, Minor Disturbance, as well toured college campuses, including Cornell University. Particularly focused in youth empowerment and accessibility, their work blends autobiographical content with history to explore and promote the need for intersectional narratives about gender, sexuality, race, class, and immigrant identities. Keep an eye out for their legacy project coming to Denver the summer of 2019!
